For hours on row the wildebeest are rolling down from the steep cliffs to the Mara river. The annual migration is in full swing.
The AVP film crew is waiting at the Mara river on August 08, 2011 when an endless flow of wildebeest make a serious mistake.
Recently more than 2.5 million ungulates travelled from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara. During a week the wildebeest were followed on their 1.300 km long pilgrimage. Until they reached their ultimate obstacle.
The Mara river.
The film ”the Crossing” starts when they live peacefully with families complete. The trek is full of danger. Predators take the opportunity. Crossing the Mara river repeatedly resulted into disaster. Thousands lose their lives. Victim to the waiting crocodiles, but more than often as a result of their own behaviour.
Joost van Wijk from Multimediasound knows like no other to tell the story in a lively report of events.
Translation and voice over of the English version of the film was done by Marijke Bangert of Malaika safaris.
